I found the modem, it is a cisco unit. I remember now how this did not get returned with the other equipment. I was using my own linksys modem after I started service with mediacom a few years ago and this modem was forgotten in the process.
It Would have helped if customer service had informed me they were missing a modem. Can you ship me a box and a label to return it?
My address has changed, I do not think you have it on file.
I moved and disconnected service in February 2013. Returned the equipment by UPS. Called in to customer service to confirm that they received it and I had a zero balance. I receive notices in the mail saying I still owed $139 equipment fee. I called in and was asked to ignore the bill. Now it goes to collection and I receive a collection agency notice. I called in to customer service and a woman with a bad attitude gives me the same spiel asking me to ignore it.
Suffering Mediacom's terrible quality of service, both customer and poor internet speed because there were no other cable providers was bad enough, now even after disconnection I still get burnt by them. Incredible.
No wonder you are ranked the worst cable provider in the nation.
I did a reboot of the router and modem, that did not help. I examined the firefox processes and something was not right. The browser felt unresponsive as well, ping responses were > 200 ms. Rebooted the pc, and ping responses dropped by 90%. Speeds back to normal now even on wireless n 300 mbps.
The poor quality..what seems to be nationwide is'nt really the fault of the mods here. Blame their management - high quality infrastructure costs money. Why spend on this when there is no competition in rural areas? So the equation is simple, continue dishing out bad quality at high prices, let the field reps manage the complaints and fix them.
If you observe the mean time between failures as a metric, mediacom service has got to be amongst the worst in the nation. At least the mods here are polite, not something that can be said for the rude people on the phone you get to talk to and which is why I have stopped calling in.
I can't wait to get out of the rural area I live in.
Sadly, there is no competition in rural areas, so being the only internet cable provider, I guess mediacom can get away with reliability issues. Not that I am blaming the moderators here, just your executive leadership team.
